Features

Fresh, naturally sweet rolled oats or stale, chemically-preserved flakes: Which sound better for your breakfast? If you like the fresh idea, KoMo's FlicFloc is right up your alley. Its hand operated design brings an entirely different engineering approach to grain flaking.

Rather than using traditional cylindrical rollers, The FlicFloc has exposed, stainless steel conical rollers that rotate on ball bearings in a case of laminated beechwood. The crank turns very easily and the mill makes a hearty flake from oat groats (oats with the hulls removed) that's thicker and chewier than store-bought flaked oats.

Oats are a naturally soft grain and more of our customers roll oats than any other grain in their FlicFloc flaker—but many other grains including wheat, rye, barley and millet can be flaked too, with a little preparation. These grains are normally dry and hard. To soften them, hold them under running water briefly in a strainer. Then spread the grains on a cloth or towel to let them dry over night or for at least 3-4 hours. This time will vary depending on the grain used, but a little experimentation will help optimize the process. The softened grain will flatten nicely into flakes, similar to commercially available rolled oats. At the same time this contact with water starts an enzymatic process which makes it easier for your metabolism to assimilate the minerals in the grain.

Why KoMo ® FlicFloc Manual Flaker

Do you love oatmeal? We do too! And because freshly crushed oatmeal has significantly more nutrients and tastes better, we prepare it ourselves in no time at all. For example, for our muesli or porridge. With a flake crusher like the FlicFloc, this is extremely quick and easy: you put the whole grain into the funnel, turn the crank a few times and enjoy your freshly crushed oatmeal falling into the glass at the bottom. It couldn't be easier!

By the way, you can use the FlicFloc flake crusher to crush not only oats, but also pretty much any other grain. Whether it's wheat, rye, spelt, green spelt, etc. But that's not all, seeds and kernels can also be processed into flakes (e.g. linseed, hemp seeds, sesame, poppy seeds and many others). The FlicFloc can even process pseudo-grains such as quinoa and amaranth. This means you can simply prepare your muesli fresh in the morning!

It's been a real whirlwind: it's true that the wheel doesn't need to be reinvented. But is that reason enough to stay loyal to cylinder-shaped rollers forever, or would you rather save yourself the effort and make cranking child's play? It wasn't a difficult choice for us: now two conical, nickel-free stainless steel rollers rotate in high-quality ball bearings. Almost by themselves. Simply attach the FLICFLOC to the table with a clamp and you're ready to go. Supplied with a screw clamp and matching glass.

Please note that the flake density of the FlicfFloc is already set to an optimum for medium-thick flakes and cannot be changed. In addition, the FlicFloc cannot be operated optimally without being attached to the edge of a table with the screw clamp.
